Privacy Policy
Last updated
This policy covers the CamLamp website, our orders, the CamLamp waitlist, CamLamp Ultra interest, the calculator, the web panel and the CamLamp iPhone app. It’s from (“we”, “us”).
What we collect
- Orders: your name, email, shipping address and what you bought. Payment details go to Stripe; we never see your full card number. If you buy on eBay, eBay shares your name and address with us so we can ship.
- The CamLamp waitlist: your email address, if you join. We email you once, when CamLamp is back in stock, and use it for nothing else.
- CamLamp Ultra interest: your email address, if you leave it. We don’t email you.
- Messages: whatever you send us when you email us.
The website
The website has no ads, no tracking cookies and no analytics, and it stores nothing on your device. It loads fonts from Google Fonts and some code from jsDelivr, which, like any website you visit, see your IP address when your browser requests them.
The calculator, the CamLamp app and the web panel
- On its own, CamLamp sends each photo straight from the calculator to the AI provider you choose (Anthropic, OpenAI or Google) and keeps your last few solves, photos included, on the calculator.
- Tethered, photos go from the calculator to the CamLamp app on your iPhone, which sends them to your AI provider. Photos and answers are kept on your iPhone, including solves the calculator made on its own, which it copies to the app when it tethers. You can delete them in the app.
- Either way, with your own API key, we don’t receive your photos. Your AI provider’s privacy policy covers what it does with them.
- Your API key is kept on the calculator so it can ask the AI itself, and in your iPhone’s Keychain if you use the app. The web panel at camlamp.com/configure sends your networks and key straight to the calculator over Bluetooth: they aren’t stored in your browser or sent to us.
- Updates come from camlamp.com. When the calculator checks for one, it sends no personal information beyond what any request to a website carries, such as an IP address.
- Lamp+ isn’t available yet. When it is, photos will pass through our servers to the AI provider, and we’ll update this policy before it launches.
How we use it
To make and ship your order, to answer you, to tell the waitlist when CamLamp is back, to count interest in CamLamp Ultra, and to keep the records the law requires (for example, for taxes).
Who we share it with
Only the services that help us do those things: Stripe (payments), shipping carriers (delivery), eBay (orders placed there) and Cloudflare, which hosts this site and stores the CamLamp waitlist and the CamLamp Ultra list. We don’t sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Order records for as long as tax and legal requirements need (typically up to seven years). Emails left for CamLamp Ultra until it launches, or until you ask us to delete yours.
Your choices
Message us on the Discord or email to see, correct or delete your information, or to take your email off the CamLamp Ultra list. If you live in California or another state with privacy rights, or in the EU or UK, you can use those rights the same way, and we won’t treat you differently for it.
Children
CamLamp isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security and changes
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top, and we’ll tell you directly about any change that matters.
